Democrat Richard Corday has an 18-point lead over Republican Mike Crites in the race for Attorney General, 44 percent to 26 percent, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. But nearly three out of four Ohio voters know much about either candidate.
Cordray, the incumbent state treasurer, has a favorable rating of 19 percent to 4 percent, while Crites, a former federal prosecutor from Cincinnati, has a 11 percent to 3 percent favorable rating.
"Neither State Treasurer Richard Cordray nor former U.S. Attorney Mike Cripes are well-known to Ohio voters at this point, although both are seen very positively by the minority who know them," said Peter Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute. "Cordray is ahead because he is slightly better known from being elected statewide previously and because being a Democrat is a plus this year."
