Wulsin out with ad hitting Schmidt on debate comment

During the Monday debate for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) said that the economic crisis hit America two weeks ago.

Businessman David Krikorian (I-Madeira) jumped on the comment from Schmidt, saying that she may have noticed the struggling economy two weeks ago, but he had seen it coming two years ago.

After the debate, the campaign of Dr. Victoria Wulsin (D-Indian Hill) piled on with a press release hitting Schmidt for the remark. Now Wulsin is out with a new campaign ad hitting Schmidt for the remark.

"With the price of gas going up, the cost of food going up and families in Southern Ohio struggling just to get by, Jean Schmidt did not notice our nation's most significant economic crisis since the Great Depression until a few weeks ago," said Wulsin spokesperson Kevin Franck. "Where's she been?"

The Wulsin campaign contrasted Schmidt's remark with those of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, who has recalled his years-ago warnings of economic turmoil on the campaign trail.

"With our nation's financial crisis on the horizon, Jean Schmidt voted against tighter regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and against steering banks away from giving high-risk mortgages to people they knew couldn't afford them," Franck said. "I don't know what's worse, that Jean Schmidt has been part of the problem in Washington, or that she didn't even realize there was a problem with the economy."

Way to steal from Krikorian

Yeah, I'm sure Vic Wulsin was on top of our economic collapse well before it came to fruition (Krikorian was). She's suddenly an expert after she saw the public outcry against this socialist bailout package and the fact the Schmidt voted for it. I'm glad she's willing to listen to either Republicans or Democrats for ideas, because she certainly doesn't have any of her own!

time to give back the keys to the country

mean jean acts like a crackpot in congress (don't listen to me - listen to her on c-span!) while everyone's 401k evaporates!

The republicans have been behind the wheel for eight years, and they've run the country into a ditch. It's time to give the keys back to the grown-ups.

For all our sakes, I hope Dr. Vic wins!

with all due respect its been the "adults" (republicrats and demapublicans) that have gotten us in to this mess. I'd call for someone not connected to either.
